Fiona
Director of BrainyBoots Education, Fiona is a senior and experienced teacher who currently works for a large academy trust, leading English in schools across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Fiona lives in East Leeds and spent several years leading Year 6 in her local village of Barwick-in-Elmet before moving into her current senior leadership post.
Beginning her teaching career in 2005, Fiona led Drama and Performing Arts in secondary schools in Leeds, York and Huddersfield, using the Creative Arts to motivate and engage pupils in literacy whilst building confidence and self-esteem.
A drive to enthuse pupils in learning is what led Fiona to become a Talk for Writing specialist: a teaching approach that enables children to become storywriters – they internalise language structure, orally practise and analyse the text before writing their own versions. Fiona now supports 22 schools on their T4W journey, providing professional development and top-quality training, whilst helping schools develop their reading for pleasure strategy.
Fiona offers maths and English groups for Year 5 and 6 pupils, boosting confidence and self-belief in their academic ability so they can realise their potential in the classroom.

Dawn
Dawn’s degree is in Chemical Engineering: she worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer before moving to Spain to set up her own business. Specialising in online secondary maths tutoring, Dawn tutors GCSE and Key Stage 3 pupils, whilst also offering challenge lessons for confident primary mathematicians.
Dawn has worked in education for many years as a teaching assistant, violin and piano teacher. She qualified in 2015 in Gibraltar before settling in her beautiful Anglesey home in 2020.
A proficient violinist, Dawn has played all of her life: piccolo and violinist in the Royal Gibraltar Band and Corps of drums for 5 years in the Army Reserves. She loves playing in the orchestra.
When she is not teaching, Dawn can be found enjoying outdoor activities such as sailing, kayaking and dog-walking – sometimes she is even out flying!

Ian is an experienced senior science adviser who has worked in various educational settings across Leeds. Living in Boston Spa, Ian provides face to face tuition in both science and maths in the Wetherby / East Leeds area.

Hello! My name is David and I have been a teacher since 2014. I am primary trained and have spent most of my career teaching in primary schools, but recently have been a teacher in special needs schools and alternative provisions.
Supporting children with additional barriers to learning (SEND) is an area I am passionate about: I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Inclusive Practice in Education.
I am available for face to face sessions in the areas surrounding Rothwell, Woodlesford, Oulton, Swillington, Kippax, Garforth or Micklefield to help primary and Key Stage 3 children, and can also offer online tuition.

Rachel spent many years as a qualified account, before realising her dream of qualifying as a primary school teacher. With KS1 and KS2 placement experience, Rachel has supported schools around Leeds across all primary school year groups.
She lives in North Leeds and tutors around this area, helping children with maths and English (including reading and phonics).
When she is not teaching, she can be found spending time with family and friends, baking bread, dressmaking and going to the theatre.

An accomplished primary teacher with many years’ classroom experience, Fiona C has a passion for creative teaching and a proven record of helping children progress, providing positive and exciting learning experiences.
With her 1st Class BA (hons) degree in Humanities, Fiona tutors children both in the UK and internationally, covering all primary subjects, Key Stage 3 English, maths, history, French and English as an additional language. Fiona has several home-schooled tutees, and fully understands the demands of home learning: she studied for her degree whilst looking after three children under the age of 4!
As a tutor, she uses a variety of teaching methods to build confidence and make learning fun, helping children to develop their understanding and knowledge, appreciate challenges and be intrigued, rather than intimidated, by mistakes.
Fiona adores reading, walking, travelling and going to the theatre, and since moving to Spain, enjoys the sunshine! She is also a proud ‘crazy dog lady’, as she currently owns 4 sausage dogs and one huge Bernese Mountain Dog!

Stacey is an experienced primary school teacher with over a decade of service in the field of education. She has a distinguished record of facilitating accelerated progress in her students. During her BSc studies in Psychology, she focused on areas including Down Syndrome, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and Autism. Stacey remains committed to continuous professional development by integrating the latest research findings into her teaching practice.
Stacey provides lessons in a dedicated tuition room designed to be sensory-friendly. The environment features natural lighting during the summer, dimmable lighting in the winter, muted tones, and minimal distractions. Additionally, it includes a calming corner equipped with a comfortable bean bag and fidget toys for students to use when they need a break.
She tutors students across Key Stage One, Key Stage Two, and Key Stage Three. Stacey adopts a nurturing approach, excelling in both exam preparation techniques, such as SATs, and fostering creativity, humour, and a love for lifelong learning in her students. She also supports students transitioning to high school by enhancing their academic, organisational, and social skills.
Furthermore, Stacey offers engaging online lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of individual learners. Beyond her professional commitments, Stacey enjoys spending time in nature with her young son, learning Spanish, and partaking in physical exercise.

Hi! My name is Helen and I am currently working as a French and Spanish teacher for pupils aged 3-16. I have seven years’ experience of teaching both the Higher and Foundation Spanish and French GCSE, and pride myself on my writing and speaking results in particular. I have experience marking Writing and Speaking papers for AQA and Writing papers for Edexcel, giving me vital insight into how to maximise your marks in these skill areas.
I enjoy teaching all ages and can help your child at any stage of their language learning journey. As someone with a love of language and reading, I am also able to teach primary level English.
Before becoming a teacher, I gained an MA in Translation and Subtitling and worked as a Translator for SDL on accounts such as Disney, Cirque du Soleil and Accor Hotels. When I am not working, I can be found cross stitching, crafting, reading or playing videogames.

Hi, my name is Milly, I have been working in further and higher education establishments for over 10 years, and I specialise in Biology tutoring. I have worked as a College and University lecturer for many years, with my focus on Animal and human Biology, and therefore have the breadth to teach GSCE Biology, A-Level and degree level Biology. One of my most recent students completed their Biology exam with a Distinction grade when her previous attempts before tutoring were 3 failing grades.
I am currently a college lecturer and manager of an Animal Centre, where I teach students the fundamental theoretical and practical skills needed to work in a diverse range of Land-based settings centred around Animal care, this includes ensuring they have a clear understanding of Biology.
I provide online one to one tutoring that is tailored to my students’ needs, using an online whiteboard, direct questioning and quizzes to ensure clear assessment of learning.

I am an accomplished primary school teacher with extensive experience teaching across KS1 and KS2 since 2013, including maths, writing, reading and phonics. Having spent 6 years as a qualified Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, I am passionate about inclusive practice and ensuring every child feels like they can succeed at anything they put their mind to.
Believing in a whole child approach to education, my practice includes trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches to learning, developed in collaboration with TCP Therapy. Children’s Mental Health and emotional intelligence is extremely important to me and I welcome children who may have had difficult classroom experiences or be disengaged from learning.
With a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a passion for personalised learning experiences, I am confident working with whole classes, groups and on a one-to-one basis: this has involved supporting children with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia, as well as supporting children to make accelerated progress and work at greater depth levels.
Recently, I have developed a love for holistic therapies and have qualified as a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner and Meditation Facilitator. I am embarking on a new career as a full-time tutor and holistic therapist, hoping to bring holistic healing to children and adults alike! In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time with friends and family, reading and listening to country music.
I have had students pass assessments with flying colours and win awards at school for the most progress made in their year group. I have taught/ tutored children from KS1 up to KS3 and am excited to offer online tuition for BrainyBoots across these age groups.
