We all know of the devastating impact of COVID-19 on children’s learning and literacy. Alarmingly, National Literacy Trust analysis found that children who are the least engaged with literacy are twice as likely to have low levels of mental wellbeing than their peers who are the most engaged (37.4% vs 15%). 

With two decades of experience in using performing arts to engage primary and secondary children in literacy, BrainyBoots Drama can offer drama and dance enrichment and literacy workshops to boosts a child’s confidence and self-belief whilst developing communication, speaking and listening skills. Delivered by a practising school leader and Talk for Writing specialist, children involved in BrainyBoots Drama workshops develop oracy skills and self-expression using a variety of storytelling techniques.

BrainyBoots Drama workshops offer meaningful learning experiences, develop pupils’ imaginations and encourage generation of new ideas within a safe environment.

Shakespeare Week was a great success – every child in school took part, from Nursery right up to Year 6. Whether using fabric and dance to represent the weather in The Tempest, experimenting with physical and vocal skills whilst chanting the witches’ spell from Macbeth or mask-making to become characters from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, each child was introduced to Shakespeare in a fun, accessible and engaging way. Our children particularly liked the Shakespearean insults section of the assembly!
