About BrainyBoots Tuition

Our team of fantastic tutors can offer individual or group tuition, depending on what best suits your needs. We pride ourselves on making sessions engaging, relevant and personalised – unlike some companies who plough through a workbook or set curriculum of tuition, our sessions are designed for your child, meaning the content will vary to accelerate progress. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach at BrainyBoots – we want our tutees to feel successful whilst being proud of their efforts, knowing they have worked hard. If your child is working towards an examination, they will explore worked examples from past papers in addition to bespoke support, scaffolded and supported in just the right way to ensure they succeed. Sessions for younger children are often play based, incorporating what your child needs: this may be segmenting and blending phonics, number recognition and formation or development of gross and fine motor skills in addition to objectives from the Key Stage One National Curriculum.

Our Services Explained

How can we help?

Between us, we can help children from Year 1 up to A-Level in English, Maths and Science. All BrainyBoots tutors are qualified UK teachers with classroom experience who understand the pressures your child may feel at school. The team consists of curriculum leaders, directors of subjects, experts in Special Educational Needs and college lecturers: you can trust that with BrainyBoots, you are choosing a tutor of quality and expertise.

Many of our tutors are also experienced in supporting pupils who are taking entrance exams for grammar schools such as Grammar School at Leeds and Manchester Grammar School. Tutors work alongside Local Authority schools to support students who are not currently attending school, and we have several BrainyBoots students who are home educated.

Can you offer any subjects other than English, Maths and Science?

Yes! We also help adults: this may be support with functional skills or a confidence-boosting course to sound more professional when writing emails and reports. The team can even help with other subjects such as music theory, psychology, history, geography, French, German and Mandarin – please ask for details.

When are sessions available?

Availability varies, depending on the tutor. Some tutors can offer face to face sessions whilst others are online only. Once you have completed our enquiry form, we will be in touch with details on how we can help, and then we can find a time that works for both you and your tutor. If we don’t have anyone available to start straight away, we can put you on the waiting list.

Is online learning as good as face-to-face tutoring?

Online learning has been a part of the education sector for many years, and with the experience of COVID-19 lockdowns, it has seen a dramatic rise. All BrainyBoots tutors are experienced with online learning and have a wealth of resources and tools to provide a high quality, interactive and engaging experience.

One major benefit of online tuition is that it is much more convenient – a simple click on a link and the session begins from the comfort of your own home. No travelling to a tutor’s house or finding a suitable space in your home for a session to take place. There is much more flexibility, as the tutor isn’t losing time travelling between houses meaning more sessions can take place, and you are no longer constrained by your postcode – many of our BrainyBoots tutees are in Leeds yet have their sessions with tutors all over the UK (and beyond, as one of our lucky tutors has recently moved to sunnier climates!)

If you are unsure about online tutoring, get in touch to put your mind at ease. You may decide to trial a few sessions before making your mind up – we know that once you give it a try, you won’t look back!

How much do sessions cost?

Individual sessions vary from £38-£55. This depend on various factors, such as if a tutor has limited availability, weekend sessions or specialist knowledge such as SEND. Sessions are booked in advance, in half-termly blocks, although this is flexible, for example if your child is working towards a specific exam you may wish for a more intense course of study.

How do I know what progress my child is making?

Tutors provide an overview of what has been taught and the progress made towards the objectives at the end of each full term. Next steps are shared with parents, along with details on a child’s engagement. We work in partnership with parents and schools to provide an expert service.
